The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom had Nintendo fans excited after seeing the trailer during the Nintendo Direct. If you always dreamed of playing as Zelda, here’s what you need to know about this new Nintendo Switch game.

The new Legend of Zelda game was one of the biggest announcements during the most recent Nintendo Direct. Not only is it one of the most popular franchises for Nintendo fans but it’s the first ever time you can play as Zelda in a mainline title.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will come out September 26, 2024. It will be released on the Nintendo Switch.

The nearly five minute gameplay trailer that came out during the Nintendo Direct had fans of the series extremely excited at what’s to come. Instead of using Link’s Master Sword, players will use the power of the Tri Rod to create copies of objects and enemies to defeat foes and solve puzzles.

“This time around, Link has vanished. Now, it’s up to Princess Zelda to step into the protagonist role,” said The Legend of Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma said in the trailer.

To create a new gameplay style different from past top-down Zelda games, Echoes of Wisdom has a 3D world feel and has Zelda getting around her environment by creating various objects and battling enemies by leading copies of enemies to fight by her side. Players will have to think critically to figure out the best ways to solve puzzles and win fights, making every playthrough different since they can be beat in different ways.

In the trailer, it’s revealed that rifts have started appearing around Hyrule that cause people to vanish. With Link lost in one of the rifts, Zelda has to use her Tri Rod and wisdom to save Link and the other people lost in the rift.
