Persona 4 is the fifth game in the main series of the Persona Series. It was originally released in 2008 for PlayStation 2 but a remake is on its way.

Due to the success of the original game, Atlus — the developer behind the series — released Persona 4 Golden, a portable version of the game. In 2023, the Persona 4 Golden remake is hitting the market, promising an enhanced experience.

Persona 4 Golden follows a group of students who investigate a series of killing in Inaba, their town. The killings are related to the Midnight Channel, an alternate realm. Persona 4 Golden mixes elements of simulation and RPG gameplay.

The game is a success in every aspect possible, with a 9.3 rating on IGN.

Is Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden the same?

Persona 4 Golden is an enhanced and portable version of Persona 4 but are still the same game. Both versions follow the same characters and story. Persona 4 was developed for PlayStation 2, while Persona 4 Golden was developed for PlayStation Vita. To the portable version of the game, Atlus added more content and features. However, these additions are not big enough to make them two different games.

What is new in Persona 4 Golden remake?

The 2023 Persona 4 Golden remake follows a similar pattern, where it is the same game with added content. This content usually comes in the form of cut scenes that add to the narrative and better graphics.

Some of the narrative changes include new areas to visit and motorized scooters to get there. A new epilogue and a different ending, based on whether you choose to expose the culprit or not. New music, better battle mechanics, minigames, and two new social links.

One of the changes that players can look forward to is the album feature. The album will allow players to revisit cut scenes and select different dialogues if they want to. This is the best way to explore every single piece of the game.

Players will also get the opportunity to choose the difficulty at the start. In the original version, players had to wait until the second week in-game to pick the difficulty. Atlus has recommended that new players of the series pick the easy modes, so they can better enjoy the game.

Persona 4 Golden also lets players save their data at any time. Players won’t have to wait for particular points in the game to save their progress.

Persona 4 Golden release date

Following the success of Persona 5 Royal, Atlus announced the Persona 4 Golden remake. The new version of the game will become available on January 19, 2023. The game is releasing at the same time as Persona 3 Portable.

Can Persona 4 Golden be played on PS4?

The Persona series was originally developed for PlayStation. Starting in 2020, Atlus decided to make the game compatible with other platforms. The newest releases will include the latest platforms. Persona 4 Golden will be available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
