North American organization Oxygen Esports has signed former Sentinels player Michael “dapr” Gulino to the Valorant roster, the org announced today.

Dapr has completed the roster at the time of publication and Rustun Lusk will be moved back to the assistant coach role as a result of the move.

It is unclear if head coach Malkolm “bonkar” Rench will stay with the roster for Challengers next year since he has had interest from European teams during the offseason, according to sources close to WIN.gg.

Oxygen Esports sign a former international winner

Dapr is known for his time on Sentinels two years ago, where he saw success on the international stage and was dominant in North America.

He was integral to the team’s success at VCT Masters Stage 2, held in Reykjavík, Iceland. The event, which took place in 2021, ended with Sentinels taking down Fnatic in the grand final with a 3-0 sweep.

Sentinels had an impressive run but failed to perform at Champions that year. Sentinels finished in the top 12 following a loss to Team Liquid in the upper bracket of Group B and a subsequent loss to KRÜ Esports.

Dapr later joined G2 Esports and had a successful start to the Challengers season earlier this year. But despite a second-place finish in Challengers in the first split, G2 was unable to replicate the success in the second split.

G2 was defeated by Oxygen Esports and The Guard in the playoffs of the Challengers league, which ended the team’s run.

Oxygen Esports is set to compete in the Challengers league next year, which will feature other organizations such as M80 and Shopify x Moist, the latter of which joined up to create a new roster.

Also, Oxygen Esports will compete in the Knights Forge event today.
