Overwatch Summer Games 2020 event dates, first skin revealed
Overwatch Summer Games 2020 event dates, first skin revealed
The Summer Games are returning to Overwatch, bringing new skins like the new, legendary Lifeguard Pharah.
Every year Overwatch celebrates the Summer Games, which is an event that closely resembles the Olympics, which occur every four years. The event first debuted in 2016 when the game launched and it was the first-ever event, which coincided with the 2016 Olympics. It would have happened alongside the 2020 Olympics this year, but the Games this year were pushed back to 2021.
The 2020 Overwatch Summer Games will run from August 4 to 25.
The event features a myriad of new skins and brings back event staple Lucio Ball. The game mode pits two teams of three against each other, all playing as Lucio, with a modified skill set that tasks players with pushing a ball around an arena in order to score in the other teams’ net. There is a quickplay version and a competitive version where players can see where they rank and earn competitive points.
As with every event, there will be a plethora of new things that players can unlock. This year the first teased skin was a Lifeguard Pharah legendary skin. Pharah wears an orange and white suit that exposes her midriff and legs. Sprawled across her wings is the word “lifeguard” and her shoulder armor dons a lifeguard cross logo.
Long time no sea.

It is expected that more skins, emotes, and sprays will be released leading up to the start of the event. If this event follows the structure of other events, it is likely that some skins will only be attainable by winning a certain number of matches within a specific timeframe.
Blizzard draws inspiration for these skins from a number of different places. Some deck out the heroes in sports outfits similar to those of national teams, while others are just generally summer-themed.
The event kicks off August 4 and will be playable until August 25.
