A Twitter event using the hashtag #esportsmystery turned out to be a surprise wedding between Overwatch League broadcaster Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles and London Spitfire manager Susie Kim.

Kim and MonteCristo had not previously disclosed the couple’s romance. The pair hid their relationship from the public eye for five years. Their wedding website, which was revealed to Twitter users after they tied the knot, describes how they met and displays pictures of the couple throughout the last five years on various trips.

“He was from Colorado and she was from New Jersey; both living in Seoul, South Korea at the time. There was an esports event that was to be held in Kunshan, China called WCG 2013 that November. They each flew into the Shanghai Airport from Hong Kong, on separate flights, but then had to wait another 2-3 hours at the airport for some other people to arrive before getting on a bus to the event venue,” the website recounts.

The wedding was streamed live on MonteCristo’s Twitch channel and featured many esports professionals and personalities who acted as hosts for the reception. The event was held at the Mile High Station in Denver, Colorado. Guests included esports players, casters, coaches, and journalists.

Once word got out that #esportsmystery was actually a wedding, word spread quickly. Support poured in from Twitter and Reddit for the couple, including plenty of requisite fan art.

Overwatch League broadcaster Mitch “UberShouts” Leslie confirmed that most of the guests didn’t even know they were attending a wedding when they showed up to the venue, giving them an even bigger surprise than that which was had by the pair’s Twitter followers.

MonteCristo and Kim both have long histories in esports. MonteCristo established his reputation as a lead analyst for OGN’s League of Legends English-language broadcasts from Korea, while Kim has contributed in a variety of ways dating back to her involvement with Korea’s StarCraft: Brood War pro scene.

After the event, Susie tweeted her thanks and added that the mystery had finally been solved.
