The fourth week of the 2020 LEC Spring Split started with a match between MAD Lions and Origen. Both teams headed in the week sharing the second place with a 4-2 score. But after today’s match, it’s Origen that overtook the Lions in the standings.

After being banned every LEC game during the previous weeks, the love for Akali was lost this week with the new patch nerfing her. MAD decided to build a draft around Yuumi’s boosts and burst damage from Ezreal and LeBlanc, but Origen went for a safer game with a focus on engage and crowd control.

MAD Lion’s poor draft starts the fourth week of the 2020 LEC Spring Split

The game started calm, with both side’s junglers roaming around but no one really making an impact. The lack of engage tools from MAD Lions was already showing as a huge weakness. That being said, with Leona’s CC by his side, OG’s Elias “Upset” Lipp got the first blood on Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság with ease in a bot lane trade.

Origen took the Rift Herald and focused on taking the top tower, while MAD used the opportunity to try and retake some of its strength by capturing the Dragon. But OG’s proactive play resulted in strong map control, and MAD Lions was falling behind.

Origen dominates MAD Lions with strong engage, crowd control

MAD Lions started grouping and picking up kills to try and recover, and started utilizing some of its composition’s power. The team moved across the map and slowed down Origen’s progress, but they couldn’t force a team fight to go in their favor. OG’s front line couldn’t be penetrated, so MAD Lions’ damage-focused draft seemed worthless.

As the game progressed, Origen was gaining a higher lead in terms of gold, kills, and turrets. With Team’s focus on snowballing Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir’s Karthus, MAD was melting under Requiem, and its high damage wasn’t enough to take anything from OG.

In the 26th minute, OG had almost 8,000 gold lead, a Baron buff, and was heading for MAD Lions’ base. The team dominated the game with ease, taking its fifth win of the split. Another win is likely to follow tomorrow, as .
