OG sitting out the Kuala Lumper Major
The list of teams set to compete in the regional qualifiers for the Kuala Lumpur Major has been announced with a very big name missing.
While most of the usual suspects are accounted for in their respective regions, the winners of The International 2018, OG, are noticeably absent from the list of competing teams. This raised questions about the team’s status heading into the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit season.
Support player Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka acknowledged the absence to soothe any worries among OG fans.

OG has had a wild 2018 which included a number of roster changes and disappointing tournament results. The team was rocked just days before TI8 qualifiers with the departure of Gustav “s4” Magnusson and Tal “Fly” Aizik, but managed to earn a spot in the tournament with a patchwork roster. On the big stage, the team gelled together on the fly and, ultimately, took the first-place prize in dramatic fashion.
Despite it being an absolutely storybook series of events, there are no guarantees in Dota 2 and OG would be far from the first team to shake its roster up immediately after winning The International. There was cause for concern for fans with the team taking a competitive break. What’s more, the limited number of Dota Pro Circuit events makes passing on the opportunity to play in one of the five Major tournaments questionable.
As things currently stand, fans can remain optimistic about seeing the $11 million roster return to action later this year.
