OG and PSG.LGD will battle for aegis at TI8
The grand finals at The International 2018 are now set.
In the final series of the event, upper bracket winners OG will rematch PSG LGD with $7 million dollars and esports glory at stake. This marks the first grand finals berth for either organization and sets up a dramatic finish for TI8.
The resurgence of OG has been the biggest story of this year’s tournament, with the European fan favorites demonstrating an amazing resilience and strong versatility. Those tools have carried Johan “N0tail” Sundstein’s squad through a murderer’s row of opponents.
While PSG LGD fell short against OG in the winners bracket finals, it arguably remains the favorite to win the tournament.
The Chinese team entered the event with expectations of success and have largely lived up to them. A strong group stage run was followed by dominant victories over fellow Dota Pro Circuit heavyweights Virtus Pro and Team Liquid. Following its loss to OG, PSG LGD bounced back with a dominant victory over Evil Geniuses and once again looks like the team to beat.
Either a PSG LGD or OG victory would cap amazing storylines. An OG victory would stand as one of the greatest Cinderella stories in esports history, while PSG LGD winning would energize both the legions of Chinese fans in attendance, as well as a shaky Chinese region.
They will face off in a best-of-five series to determine the winner of TI8. The winner will receive over $11 million while the loser will reel in just over $4 million.
