After nine days of action, just three teams remain in the hunt for the $11 million top prize at The International 2018.
The resurgent OG advanced to the grand finals. Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and company will next meet the winners of Evil Geniuses vs. PSG LGD.
OG has established itself as the powerhouse of TI8. Despite entering the event with a makeshift roster, a career-best performance by returning carry Anathan “ana” Pham and consistently excellent play by Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen have turned the formerly dream into an elite team. Though OG started the tournament with a mediocre group stage performance, OG is well established as the team to beat at this point given wins over the two remaining lower bracket teams.
PSG LGD and EG are no slouches. The top teams from China and North America, respectively, they entered the event as two of the favorites to win it all. To this point, they have lived up to expectations, but anything less than first place will still be a disappointment given how far they’ve come.
The two squads will face off on Saturday morning, with the winner of that series facing OG later in the day. The loser, meanwhile, will finish in third place and take the $2.5 million prize that comes with it.
