Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee are now free agents, DAMWON Gaming confirmed through Twitter.

The 2020 champions are open for contract offers. The top laner and support, who recently raised the Summoner’s Cup in Shanghai, may or may not return to the team where they enjoyed a career season. According to DAMWON, both players have chosen to explore the free agency but are still in talks with the organization.

Nuguri and BeryL were integral to DAMWON’s success domestically. The possible departure from the team is a surprise that no one expected. As the LCK enters the franchise model, teams now have the means to keep their players and offer competitive salaries. It seems like Nuguri and BeryL are looking for even greener pastures.

With LCK teams looking to rebuild their rosters, there are many options for both of these players. They’re not only some of the best in the LCK, but also current World Champions. If there’s a couple of players that teams should throw their money at, it’s Nuguri and BeryL.

안녕하세요. 담원게이밍과 ‘Nuguri’ 장하권, ‘BeryL’ 조건희 선수와의 계약이 만료되었음을 알려드립니다. 오랜 시간 담원게이밍과 여정을 함께해주신 선수분들께 감사드립니다. pic.twitter.com/zHzJtHS9Cy

Where will Nuguri and BeryL go in LoL free agency?

Right now, there are many options for these players. They’re both in a privileged position where they get to choose their next destination. Going backwards is not an option for two players with a Worlds title under their belts, so they might be looking at some previous World Champions, like T1 and Gen.G.

Looking at the current players on T1 and Gen.G, Nuguri and BeryL would represent an upgrade for both teams and both teams have the means to sign them. T1 might have the edge over Gen.G however, as T1 signed former DAMWON coaches Lee “Zefa” Jae-min and Yang “Daeny” Dae-in. Reuniting with former coaching staff might be the difference for these players.

DAMWON still has the option to re-sign these players, but it will likely face serious competition.
