Nicholas “Nickmercs” Kolcheff has become the first Call of Duty player to win a Warzone 2 match.
Call of Duty: Next showcased the first in-depth look at Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, Warzone Mobile, and Warzone 2. Warzone 2 has been highly anticipated since its original announcement, particularly since the original has been seen as a disaster by some streamers.
The new Warzone will have a revised loot system, changes up the Gulag, and adds a new map. The Call of Duty: Next presentation showed off the map, Al Mazrah, by having top streamers compete in the first-ever Warzone 2 match. Nickmercs flew out to the CoDNEXT event in Los Angeles to take part in the iconic moment.
Nickmercs was joined by fellow FaZe Clan player Scope and then Smixie. The trio dropped into Al Mazrah and quickly started to figure out the new circle system and safe zones. One of the best moments had the trio diving into a fight halfway through the match and Smixie getting a five killstreak. But then Smixie and Scope ran out of luck, leaving Nickmercs in a one-on-three.
While downed, Scope tried to guide Nickmercs through the situation, ultimately allowing Nickmercs to fight through it all. Nickmercs took out all three enemies, in a very clutch moment.
“First game, first dub,” Nickmercs announced.
FIRST EVER WARZONE 2 WIN IN THE WORLD!
Winning the first-ever Warzone 2 match ever played is definitely an exciting milestone in Nickmercs’ career. Nickmercs has been very invested in Warzone as of late. He has been anxiously awaiting Warzone 2 for a while now, saying that a Modern Warfare-style battle royale will be a good change.
“The fact that they’re making another Warzone around that, it’s definitely framed up nicely. We’ll see, right?” Nickmercs said at the time.
Warzone 2 is coming out November 16 alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
