G2 Esports has signed Serbian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive duo Nemanja “nexa” Isaković and Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač as the team goes global.

After 3 years of being a French-only team, G2 has decided to open its roster towards international waters. The organization is doing so by signing nexa and huNter, both of whom will be transferred from CR4ZY. nexa will serve as G2’s new in-game leader, while huNter is taking on the position of rifler.

The two new players are joining the active roster instead of Lucas “Lucky” Chastang, who has been benched by G2, and Richard “shox” Papillon, who has recently joined Team Vitality.

In the announcement, G2 shared that the organization is looking to open up new opportunities and approaches with a more global team. Moving away from a fully French-speaking team will, G2 believes, help them to better achieve competitive goals.

“Make French Counter-Strike Great Again? Screw that,” G2’s CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez shared in the statement. “We will show the world, now for the second time, that an international lineup can be number one.”

Nexa and huNter believe joining G2 is a great opportunity for them to show what they can do, and they are hungry to give it their best and to win trophies.

“I’m ready to put in an insane amount of hours to achieve these goals,” nexa said.

“When I started playing CSGO, I knew that I wanted to play on a team like G2, a big team with great players,” huNter added.

G2’s roster shuffle come after a season of ups and downs. The team has taken trophies of top-tier tournaments like ESL Pro League Europe Season 9 and Good Game League 2019, and has placed in the top-three of the ESL Pro League Finals and ESL One New York. On the other hand, their StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 run ended only with a ninth place finish.

Fans weren’t surprised to hear the news of nexa and huNter joining G2 after CR4ZY’s CEO Antonio Meić accused ocelote of poaching his players last month. Fans defended ocelote by saying poaching is a normal course of action in CSGO, since team owners often don’t let their players know of the better opportunities they’ve been offered.
