The Pokemon Horizons anime has been a staging ground for upcoming video game content, and a new Poke Ball shown in the anime may be a key element in the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

During Ash Ketchum’s 26-year run as the main character of the Pokemon anime, the show was largely separate from the games. They shared Pokemon and characters, but Charizard disobeying Ash even after getting eight gym badges, Gary collecting 10 badges in Kanto, and Pikachu knocking out a Rhydon with a Thunderbolt showed that the show had its own rules.

That has seemingly changed with Pokemon Horizons, though. The adventures of new main character Liko and her Sprigatito are a self-contained story of their own, but the anime has also beaten the games to the punch on revealing new content. That was seen with the show offering fans a first look at the base form of Terapagos.

That’s also playing out in the Pokemon Horizons: The Search for Laqua series. A new character named Gibeon captured a shiny Zygarde, with a distinctive Poke Ball. All this is likely a tease for what fans can look forward to in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

What does Pokemon Horizons show about Pokemon Legends: Z-A?

Pokemon Horizons shows off a new Poke Ball used to contain Zygarde that will potentially appear in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

The main villain of Pokemon Horizons is Gibeon, an older man who is looking to build a Utopia. In order to do this, he requires the powers of a handful of legendary Pokemon including Terapagos and Rayquaza. That said, he already has a legendary on-hand; Zygarde. Gibeon’s signature Pokemon is a shiny Zygarde, who is typically shown alongside him in its canine-like 10% forme.

Zygarde is seemingly set to feature heavily in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The game’s logo has a green and black color scheme similar to Zygarde. The Z in the logo also has a series of nested hexagons, similar to the pattern seen across all Zygarde formes’ designs.

A flashback in Pokemon Horizons: Search for Laqua gave fans a possible tease for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, though. In a flashback, Gibeon is revealed to have caught Zygarde in a special Poke Ball with a distinct clockwork theme.

Alongside the presence of Zygarde, this ties into Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

During the final stretch of the main story, the player is forced to team up with one of the clan leaders and craft a special Poke Ball to catch Palkia and Dialga. This special ball has a unique look.

Little is known about Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but players may finally have something clear to look forward to.
