The Chest of Endless Days is the newest Dota 2 skin set, but a funny glitch seems to have snuck past Valve.

Dota 2 now has another set of hero skins to open in the Chest of Endless Days. The new case includes 13 new sets with three rare opens. The ultra rare of the set is Heir of Menace Invoker, a regal take on his childlike persona. Unlike most Dota 2 chests, Endless Days will drop randomly after matches and requires $2.49 keys to open. While most of the sets are pretty cool, the collection also includes a funny error glitch for Lycan.

The chest includes new sets for the following heroes.

  • Luna
  • Templar Assassin
  • Weaver
  • Nature’s Prophet
  • Viper
  • Drow Ranger
  • Wraith King
  • Pangolier
  • Winter Wyvern
  • Lucan
  • Witch Doctor
  • Hoodwink
  • Invoker

The rare Witch Doctor set features a new Death Ward model based on a djembe drum. The very rare Hoodwink set turns her crossbow into a steampunk repeater complete with giant goggles. Lucky players can get an ultra rare version of the Invoker persona featuring a crown and a twirly mustache. Players who do not own the Acolyte of the Lost Arts set will automatically receive that too.

Unlike most other Dota 2 chests, which cost money to purchase but are free to open, the Chest of Endless Days will randomly drop to players after playing matches. This is similar to the Hallowed Chest of the Diretide from the Halloween event. The system is also very similar to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s method of distributing loot chests that require real money to open, but unlike the tactical FPS, Dota 2 chests show their actual odds

Dota 2 Chest of Endless Days features error Lycan

Dota 2 fans who open the new Requiem for Red Wolf Clan Lycan set from the Chest of Endless Days are getting a little less than what they paid for.

After unboxing their fancy new set, players will notice that activating Shapeshift causes Lycan to turn into a giant red error message. This is the standard default model for when something goes wrong in the Source 2 engine. It’s not intentional, but it’s definitely hilarious.

It appears the model for Lycan’s new Shapeshift is either missing from the game entirely or is located in the incorrect file. No matter what is causing Lycan to turn into a hasted error message, Valve should definitely fix it soon. Or maybe this is just the new Lycan arcana?
