According to a new blog post by the Call of Duty team, the next instalment in the franchise is taking things back to the 1990s. Along with the blog post, fans got to see a ‘Campaign Intel Drop’ video that explains both the story behind the game and what they can expect in terms of visuals.
Black Ops 6 is set in 1991 against a backdrop of changing international politics. The Cold War has ended and the United States is emerging as the singular global superpower. In the midst of all of this, the CIA has been infiltrated by a nefarious group looking to achieve world dominance.
Those who refuse to bend to its will are forced out and hunted. This includes Black Ops veteran Frank Woods and his team, who are at the center of this single-person story. He, along with his protégé Troy Marshall, are creating their own team. This includes new faces like technical genius Felix Neumann, and assassin Sevati Dumas. Familiar face Russell Adler also makes an appearance, though the blog post makes it clear that his loyalties cannot always be counted on.
“In the thrilling action to come, there’s just one rule above every other: Don’t trust anyone,” it says.
