Mineski cuts Ahjit after disappointing Dota Pro Circuit run

After a disappointing run in the Dota Pro Circuit, Mineski has undergone another roster shakeup before the upcoming International 2019 event.

Mineski announced the departure of Lai “Ahjit” Jay Son from the team on its recent Twitter post. The organization is currently exploring its options and is set to reveal its new roster for the year’s biggest tournament in August.

Ahjit joined the team in January 2019 to fill the gap left by Thiay “JT-” Jun Wen. Mineski started the Dota Pro Circuit unimpressively as the team failed to earn any DPC points.

Things changed slowly after Ahjit joined the squad. As Mineski’s new carry, he led the team to victory during the DreamLeague Season 11 Southeast Asia qualifiers.

Mineski started that event’s main event in the upper bracket before being knocked off by China’s PSG.LGD. North American side J.Storm ended its tournament run in the lower bracket and the team finished in ninth place.

The team struggled to find its stride and hasa failed to earn any significant positioning in the standings during the year’s biggest events. Mineski had a small redemption after its second-place finish in the ESL One Mumbai tournament, but this occurred outside of the Dota Pro Circuit.

This small success did not translate into better results elsewhere. Underwhelming finishes in the Dota Pro Circuit continued.

For Mineski, the chance of a direct invite in The International 2019 has ended after its fifth-place finish at the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor.

Top two teams from the tournament earned slots to the last major tournament of the year’s Dota Pro Circuit. However, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Alliance snatched these last two tickets from Mineski’s grasp.

The International 2019 qualifiers will begin in two weeks and Mineski will aim to bounce back with a newly revamped roster.
