The Marvels Game Awards

Marvel’s Blade was just announced at The Game Awards 2023.

Bethesda Softworks and Marvel Games revealed a first look at Blade, devleloped by Arkane Lyon, the studio behind DEATHLOOP and Dishonored. The teaser trailer didn’t show much gameplay but pointed at a very gritty, intense game focused on Marvel’s comic book hero Blade.

“In honor of Blade’s 50th anniversary, we have found the perfect match for the Daywalker in Arkane Lyon, a studio of uncompromising artists who continually push the boundaries of game design and innovation,” said Bill Rosemann, VP and Creative Director of Marvel Games. “In addition to their award-winning talent, it’s their personal passion and bold vision for our half-human, half-vampire iconoclast that makes this collaboration a perfect fit.”

When is Blade coming out?

Arkane Lyon stated that the studio has just begun development for the game. This means that it may be a while before the game comes out and no release date has been confirmed by developers.

The game will be focused on Blade’s origin story, taking players through a “quarantined section of Paris” during a “supernatural emergency.” Vampires are terrorizing the city and citizens are taking shelter. With his iconic sunglasses and trench coat, Blade will be fighting these monsters with style and intensity.

“As a kid of mixed origins, I felt a special connection to Blade—a hero with a dual heritage himself,” said Dinga Bakaba, Game Director, Arkane Lyon. “The opportunity to put our spin on this character is a dream of mine and a challenge that our team embraces with a passion. We couldn’t be happier to put players in Blade’s boots, as he becomes the champion of my hometown of Paris, one stake at a time.”
