Back-to-back defending LEC champion MAD Lions will be entering the 2022 season with a lot of changes to its roster.Â
After a very successful year in the LEC with two trophies won, MAD Lions has made big changes for its next year of play. The changes have been made in the mid lane and in the bottom lane, where MAD Lions will try its luck with some new rookie talent. This is something MAD Lions has succeeded with previously and now it’s time to prove that it can succeed again.
The newest addition to the bot lane will be the Swedish talent William “UNF0RGIVEN” Nieminen, who previously played for SK Gaming Prime in the German Prime League. He will be joining MAD Lions alongside mid laner Steven “Reeker” Chen, who is transferring from BIG. Â
Reeker is likely the player most people will have their eyes on, after successfully winning both Prime League splits in 2021 with BIG. During these runs, Reeker showcased how great his talent is and that he deserved to be developed even further in a major league.Â
MAD Lions will still be keeping a big part of its 2021 core intact, as top laner Ä°rfan “Armut” TĂĽkek, jungler Javier “Elyoya” Batalla, and support Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser will all stay with the team. With this core remaining at MAD Lions, there’s a good chance that there will still be enough leadership and experience on the team for MAD Lions to keep fighting at the top of the LEC standings.Â
If the team can defend the LEC title will likely depend on the synergy built together with the new players, where development should be in focus. MAD Lions’ new roster will enter Summoner’s Rift for the first time on January 14 when the 2022 LEC Spring Split kicks off.Â
MAD Lions will be looking to defend its LEC trophy with two new players on the roster. Not only are these players new for MAD Lions, they are also rookies in the LEC who are finally getting a chance on the game’s biggest stage.Â
