m0NESY has the best ELO rating of any CSGO player in the world
Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov was already a sleeper pick for the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player, but now the young AWPer has the stats to back the claim.
G2 Esports AWPer m0NESY has become the highest-ranked player on FACEIT in both Russia and Europe. The accomplishment comes after back-to-back international championships from his team G2 Esports. With strong tournament performance and the highest ELO of any player, the 17-year-old now stakes a solid claim as the best CSGO player in the world. Here’s why reaching the top spot matter and who m0NESY is up against for the title.
After a string of victories on the matchmaking platform, m0NESY reached a peak ELO rating of 6,712. This makes him the top-rated player in Europe and Russia, which are the two most competitive divisions in the world. The ELO was primarily earned through matchmaking in FACEIT Pro League, an invite-only pool limited to the best players in the world.
In Europe, he took the title from ENCE’s Paweł “dycha” Dycha. In Russia, Erkhan “gokushima” Bagynanov now holds the second-highest rating.
Is m0NESY the best CSGO player?
By reaching this insane milestone, m0NESY makes a decent claim as the best individual CSGO player in the world. However, he’s not the only horse in the race.
FACEIT ELO is an objective stat that can measure individual win rate in online games, but most pros and fans will point to tournament performance as the more important stat. m0NESY doesn’t slack there either, but Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev is the most common choice for the title. Other contenders for best CSGO player are Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolovand, and m0NESY’s own teammate Nikola “NiKo” Kovač.
In addition, it’s important to note the difference between the best current CSGO player and the greatest of all time. The current GOAT of the game is widely considered to be s1mple due to his long history of top-level play. Before his era, Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund was a common pick for his dominance in tournaments. Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz and Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander are dark horses for the title thanks to the old Astralis’ four major championships.
