The London Spitfire have announced a replacement coach for Chang-geun “Changg” Park, who left the team at the end of season one of the Overwatch League.

Kwangbok “Coach815” Kim has joined the team as head coach after an extended career in coaching for Blizzard-based esports.

Kim began his coaching career over 10 years ago with Starcraft: Brood War. He moved onto Starcraft 2 four years later in 2011 as head coach for StarTale, now known as Alfreeca Freecs. Under Kim’s guidance the team won multiple titles, including the BattleNet World Championship Series Grand Finals, WCG Grand Finals, and Blizzard Cup in 2012.

In 2014, Kim branched out again and moved into Heroes of the Storm. Over the course of 23 official tournaments, 19 of them were first or second place finishes for his team, including a streak of 41 consecutive victories.

With the arrival of Overwatch esports, Kim began coaching MVP in the OGN Apex tournament for Season 4. The team later qualified to join Contenders under Kim’s guidance.

In a press release announcing the hiring of Kim, the Spitfire praised his pedigree as a coach and his history in delivering championships.

“Kim’s career speaks for itself, and we’re thrilled to be working with him as he enters the next stage,” said London Spitfire CEO and owner Jack Etienne.

The Overwatch League is set to continue with its next season in 2019. Transfers for players and staff will continue through December, when all teams are contractually obliged to have full teams of eight pro players.
