Fans are buzzing over the possible leak of a new Apex Legends hero.
An anonymous source confided in Daily Esports that the leaked photo of potential hero Octane was real. They even provided a clearer illustration of the possible addition to the game.
The controversy began when someone took to Reddit to share a screenshot of hero Octane, taken fron the screen of a friend who was working on the project. The photo shows an explosive hero who looks like a mix between Overwatch’s Junkrat and Borderland’s Psycho. The screenshot appears to have been taken while the individual was editing the image on Photoshop.
Octane’s abilities can be seen in a separate Reddit leak that dubs the possible hero as a “high speed daredevil.” If the photo is to be believed, Octane will have a passive that allows him to heal over time and the tactical ability “Adrenaline Junkie,” which allows him to move 30 percent faster for six seconds at the cost of some health. This ability will also make Octane immune to attacks that would normally slow him, like Caustic’s gas or Bangalor’s airstrike.
His ultimate, Launch Pad,i isdescribed as a “deployable jump pad that catapults users through the air.”
Octane has been a rumor in the Apex Legends community since shortly after the game’s release. While it’s still unclear if the leaked photos are legitimate, it should be noted that the Reddit user who shared the initial photo is Voeno, who was also responsible for the legitimate Havoc weapon leak.
Daily Esports’ source said they were confident that Octane will be released alongside March 12’s Battle Pass, or possibly just before it.
This will be Apex Legends’ first Battle Pass. The source claims it will be a static item in the game’s shop, unable to be purchased with coins.
