Doaenel ban

League of Legends streamer Doaenel has suddenly been hit with an indefinite ban from Twitch for having an “inappropriate” username. But does he really?

Doaenel shared an email from Twitch on his Twitter account, stating that he couldn’t believe it was real. According to Twitch, Doaenel’s username was deemed “inappropriate” and thus was against the Community Guidelines. This led to an indefinite suspension of his Twitch account.

The ban came as a shock to Doaenel and his fans because he has had the same username since he was 16 years old. Doaenel streams for hours a day, having started streaming in 2019. It was out of the blue to suddenly hear that his username had led to a ban on Twitch.

“This ban won’t stop me. I promised you rank 1, I promised you a hero. When Twitch refused to partner me, I didn’t give up. When Riot banned me, I didn’t give up. And now, even though I am banned on Twitch, I won’t give up. I failed you once, I won’t fail you again,” Doaenel tweeted.

Why was Doaenel banned on Twitch?

Twitch never explained the specific reasons behind Doaenel being an inappropriate username, though the League of Legends streamer felt someone may have confused his name with the phrase “do anal.” But this isn’t the intention behind the nickname, according to Doaenel.

The origin behind Doaenel is actually quite wholesome. According to a tweet, it was from a prompt where people found out their “real angel name” by combing the first two letters of their first name, the first vowel of their first name, the third letter of their middle name, and then the last consonant of their last name. They would then add “IEL” or “EL” to the end.

This resulted in Doaenel for the popular League of Legends streamer.

Most people in the streaming community rolled their eyes at Twitch’s decision to ban Doaenel for his username. It seemed like an overreaction and another example of inconsistent punishment from the streaming platform. A lot of people also pointed out that it was crazy how Doaenel was banned for his seemingly innocent username when he has been accused of actual inappropriate behavior in the past.

In 2020, Doaenel was suspended from Twitch for sexually harassing a female streamer. Yvonnie shared the incident on Twitter, where fans came to Yvonnie’s support. People accused Doaenel of being “creepy” and “immature” in the comments, with Imane “Pokimane” Anys even putting up the barf emoji in the replies.

According to some viewers, Doaenel has continued to behave inappropriately in-game during his streams. While his viewership has increased significantly, many dislike his alleged continued toxicity towards women. Either way, it was ultimately his username that led to his demise.
