Magic: The Gathering, the titanic collectible card game from Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, has been reaching out more and more into other worlds with its exclusive Secret Lair series and the announced Worlds Beyond products. The most recent fanciful setting to get its incarnation in Magic is League of Legends’ Runeterra, through new animated show Arcane.
Secret Lair x Arcane was announced earlier this week with two variations, each available in foil and non-foil. The first is Secret Lair x Arcane, a series of seven cards that have been reskinned to fit the animated show. The second, Secret Lair x Arcane: Lands, brings the landscapes of Piltover and Zaun to the basic lands of Magic: The Gathering. Secret Lair x Arcane and the lands variation both cost $29.99 for the non-foil versions, with the foil versions also both costing $39.99
Only four of the cards from Secret Lair x Arcane have been revealed, but all of them are staples of Commander in particular. There’s a Rhystic Study renamed Unstable Harmonics, and depicting Jayce and Viktor floating around their stable Hexite crystal. Path to Exile depicts Jayce in the Piltover Council room facing judgement, Counterflux shows a young Powder flying from the roof of the Zaunite workshop where Vander is held by SIlco. The last revealed card is Hexcore, a reskinned Thran Dynamo. The other three haven’t been confirmed yet, but if they keep up the level of quality presented in the first four, it looks to be great value for enfranchised players looking to give their decks a Runterran spin.
Secret Lair x Arcane will become available for order on November 20, and will be produced to fit demand like other Secret Lairs. Magic: The Gathering fans are getting a chance to represent their favourite champions on the tabletop, even if it’s just in the art for now.
