LCS releases new documentary too early, removes it from YouTube

On December 20, the LCS published a short documentary titled “Eyes on LCS: New Teams Return” on its YouTube channel. But the video seems to have come out too early, as it was pulled down within an hour of its release.

The documentary included features on three teams that are rejoining the League of Legends scene in the 2020 LCS Spring Split. These include Evil Geniuses, Immortals, and Dignitas. All three of these teams had in the past been a part of the LCS, but weren’t present in the scene for two years or more.

The documentary seems to have revealed assets for the new season before it was planned, so the video is now listed as private.

EG, IMT, and DIG players ready for the 2020 LCS Spring Split

The video featured representatives of each of the returning teams sharing encouraging words about the upcoming season. In a similar fashion, each representative said the teams are ready to prove they deserve their newly earned LCS slots and are heading in with confidence.

As they talked through the shots of teams’ headquarters, hyping up LCS fans ahead of the season’s start, there seemed to be nothing wrong with the video. But towards the end, the camera moved towards players taking a part in a photoshoot, likely the official photoshoot for the season.

Camera angles moved in for close-ups of the teams’ new jerseys, possibly revealing more than was intended at this early stage. Fans that the video reached within an hour of its lifetime were able to get a glimpse of new designs.

It’s safe to assume that the LCS was contacted by the teams quickly after the video went live and that the LCS took it down as soon as the mistake was realized. With the Spring Split just a few days away, the video will likely go live again in no time as teams officially announce their new assets for the season on their own time as had originally been intended.
