KT Rolster has terminated its contracts with its League of Legends roster, but it might not be done with the players just yet.
The organization barely avoided relegations in the summer and that has the brand ready to change its approach for the next season. That shift started when the team released support No “SnowFlower” Hoi-jong before the free agency period officially started.
Now, the team has nixed its contracts with top laners Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon and Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho, jungler Go “Score” Dong-bin, mid laner Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong, and bottom laners Kim “PraY” Jong-in and Jeon “Zenit” Tae-gwon.
“We would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the players and wish them good luck in the future. The contracts have been terminated but we are still negotiating with the players and hope to have good news as soon as possible,” KT Rolster wrote on Facebook.
It makes sense for KT Rolster to keep some of the players from its 2019 roster. The team signed former DragonX head coach Kang “Hirai” Dong-hoon who previously worked with Bdd and PraY.
According to rumors, KT Rolster is going for a roster inspired by Kingzone DragonX circa 2018. The team included jungler Han “Peanut” Wang-ho and support Kang “GorillA” Beom-hyun who are both free agents at the moment. If KT Rolster acquires these two players, the team could be fielding much of the popular RoX Tigers roster of 2015.
While that lineup would certainly be an intriguing one and could enjoy success in the LCK, KT Rolster could also head in a completely different direction. Considering the recent results, the team needs to get back in shape in order to avoid another year of relegation. Coach Hirai is a good start for the organization, but he needs strong players to conquer the LCK.
KT Rolster cannot go for a budget roster if they want to win a title in 2020. Expect big news from the team in the near future.
