kennyS returns to G2 Esports as PGL Stockholm Major sub
One of the scariest snipers in Counter-Strike history could return for the PGL Stockholm Major, with Kenny “kennyS” Schrub returning to action.
All 24 teams attending the Stockholm Major have submitted their final rosters for the event, including coach and substitute. G2 Esports’ roster has the surprise addition of Kenny “kennyS” Schrub. The legendary AWPer is one of the most influential players in the history of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. While not considered a top threat in 2021, the player remains a fan favorite.
kennyS is currently signed to the G2 Esports’ CSGO division but does not start in competitive matches. The last tournament that he played in was the IEM Season 15 World Championship in February 2021 where G2 placed eighth. Afterwards, kennyS was moved to bench and Audric “JaCkz” Jug returned to the starting roster.
There’s no guarantee that kennyS will be involved in the tournament, but he’ll be the first to step in if any G2 member becomes unable to compete.
G2 Esports Stockholm Major roster
According to the official press release, G2 Esports’ intended roster for PGL Major Stockholm is as follows:
- Nikola “NiKo” Kovač
- Nemanja “nexa” Isaković
- Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač
- Audric “JaCkz” Jug
- François “AmaNEk” Delaunay
- Kenny “kennyS” Schrub (Substitute)
- Damien “maLeK” Marcel (Coach)
All 24 teams have submitted their official rosters for the Stockholm Major, including coaches and official substitutes. Many teams were forced to register their coach as their official stand-in. The Stockholm Major’s $2 million prize pool is the biggest in CSGO history, so bringing an extra player along is definitely worth the trouble.
Substitutions are an important part of LAN esports tournaments due to health concerns and travel restrictions. If a player fails any mandatory health checks, there needs to be another player on standby to fill in. This issue plagued Dota 2’s The International 2021, so Valve probably encouraged teams to bring a backup.
