Kai Cenat has been temporarily banned from Twitch following a “green out” episode, a massive L for the W community.

Kai Cenat has been officially banned from Twitch. The incident is possibly related to consuming marijuana on stream. Cenat has not made an official statement on the ban, but he will likely return to the platform sometime in the near future.

The ban was announced on January 26, 2023, with StreamerBans first reporting on the suspension. The streamer’s official Twitch page notes that the ban is temporary, so he will likely return within the next few weeks.

Kai himself has not issued a statement on the reason behind his ban, but he did acknowledge it on social media. He tweeted that he was getting ready to begin a planned subathon when he discovered that he was banned. Cenat appears to have taken it in stride, adding “GG” to the end of his statement.

Is the green out why Kai Cenat got banned from Twitch?

Many fans are theorizing that a recent “green out,” where Kai Cenat passed out after eating edible cannibis, is why he was banned from Twitch.

On a January 25, 2023 stream, Kai Cenat revealed that he intended to consume weed-infused candy for the stream. After revealing several options, he chose to eat approximately 150 milligrams of THC, which is several times the standard dose.

Chatters quickly warned the streamer that he would green out on stream, but Cenat assured fans that wouldn’t happen. A few hours later, Kai passed out while playing Gang Beasts. He later woke up and ended the stream after some encouragement from his streaming partners.

Twitch usually does not ban streamers for consuming cannabis in areas where it is legal to do so, which is indeed the case for Kai Cenat’s Atlanta streaming house. However, overconsumption to the point of passing out has been punished in the past. Super Smash Bros. Melee icon Joseph “Mang0” Marquez has been banned for passing out drunk on stream, which sets a precedent for similar incidents. Passing out is likely what got Kai Cenat banned, as opposed to the consumption of edibles on stream.
