Juggernaut is one of Dota 2’s most beloved carry heroes, and his fantastic arcana may soon be joined by a persona.
Personas are Dota 2’s way of visually reworking heroes while keeping their gameplay intact. The first was a complete remix for Anti-Mage that turned him into his own student named Wei. Since then, players have seen Pudge become a plushie, Dragon’s Blood characters cosplay as themselves, and Phantom Assassin transform into a random dude. While variants have been released, it’s been nearly two years since Valve released a brand-new one. However, there are several signs in Crownfall that Juggernaut is next on the list to get a persona.
Here’s what Valve could be cooking up for the next persona.
Serina plays a huge part in Crownfall, and Valve could be setting her up as a new persona skin for Juggernaut.
Serina is introduced in Act 4 of Crownfall as part of a sidequest involving Juggernaut. She claims to be from the Isle of Masks, Yurnero’s homeland. However, Juggernaut’s entire lore revolves around being the sole survivor of his people. This is even reflected in his arcana, where the souls of his dead countrymen inhabit his body.
In the story, Juggernaut immediately accepts her story, even calling her a sister. He claims that Scree’Auk informed him about Serina’s survival, which drew him to the Ghastly Eyrie. The pair both show up for the assault on Imperia despite most side characters not being involved in the final fight. This clearly shows that Valve considers her significant.
So far, fans are loving her design and personality, noting that she acts almost the exact same as Juggernaut despite their differences. This makes her a natural fit to appear in the game as a skin.
The biggest difference between the two is their weapons. Juggernaut is a devout swordsman, dedicating his entire life to mastering the blade. Serina, meanwhile, uses two axes. This initially catches Yurnero off guard, but he quickly adapts to the situation. The change in weaponry could make some of abilities on a future Juggernaut persona awkward, but holding both axes out and spinning would be a simple change for Blade Fury.
The question then becomes when she would release. Crownfall should be Dota 2’s last major update for quite a while. However, Frostivus is just around the corner. Seeing as how Crystal Maiden and Wraith King both got personas in 2022, Valve could release a small event to tide players over until the next adventure.
