The recent overhaul at FaZe Clan resulted in the departure of many longstanding creators and employees. Is Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff still in FaZe Clan, though?
Nickmercs is well-known for his Warzone, Apex Legends, and Just Chatting streams and has built a huge following on Twitch. While he gained fame primarily for his gaming content, his occasional drama and bold opinions have expanded his fanbase to a more mainstream audience. Nickmercs is not just a streamer; he’s also business-focused, having been involved with several popular gaming organizations in recent years.
In 2020, Nickmercs had a very public fallout with 100 Thieves, where he was allegedly offered a 5% share. However, he left the organization, citing broken promises. The messy situation didn’t stop him from continuing his gaming business endeavors when he emerged as a FaZe Clan co-owner in April 2021.
Nickmercs remains a co-owner in FaZe Clan, yet the details of his share percentage and stake type remain undisclosed. Despite this co-ownership, Nickmercs does not wield decision-making authority within the organization.
The recent company changes at FaZe Clan have seen many of the old-time creators walk out the door, including Kalei Renay, the company’s only female creator. The wipeout at the content house was brutal, which led many to wonder if Nickmercs is still part of the roster. It turns out he’s still the co-owner, but his word doesn’t have a major sway over company decisions.
“I found out the way y’all did. I mean we knew through the grapevine that there was plans being cooked up, but we never knew what it was going to be or who it was going to be. I mean I didn’t even know if I was going to be kept around,” Nickmercs said.
Regarding the changes at FaZe Clan, Nickmercs acknowledged that he was not involved in those decisions and found out about them online, just like the rest of the fans. Although details about Nickmercs’ partnership were previously unknown, it has now been confirmed that he does not have decision-making authority.
