Invictus Gaming top laner and former World Champion Kang “ThyShy” Seung-lok said on a recent stream that he isn’t sure if he will be a professional player next year.

TheShy were asked on stream when he is leaving Korea to prepare for the upcoming 2021 season. To that, the Korean top laner answered that he still isn’t too sure and will have to think about it. This was mainly due to the global pandemic.

“I haven’t decided on whether or not I’ll be a professional player next year, since my contract is expiring this year,” TheShy said on stream.

Q: When are you leaving Korea to prepare for next season?

TheShy: “I’m not too sure. I haven’t decided on whether or not I’ll be a professional player next year, since my contract is expiring this year. I’ll have to think about it, It’s mainly due to COVID-19 …”

TheShy further stated that he is currently getting his teeth corrected and that “it’s not ideal, not being able to come and go from Korea.” It seems that the recent year has been hard for him, due to playing in a foreign country. The League of Legends pro might evaluate his possibilities for the upcoming season, but TheShy noted he will continue to be a professional player.

“So for now I’m just thinking about it. But outside of extraordinary circumstances, I should continue to be a professional player, while I still can,” TheShy said.

TheShy missed Worlds 2020 after a lackluster year in LPL

After a lackluster year for iG in the LPL, it’s only natural that TheShy is now considering his options for next year. Fans had high expectations for iG going into the 2020 season, after keeping the two Korean stars TheShy and mid laner Song “Rookie” Eui-jin on the squad.

Even though iG is considered one of the strongest teams in the world on an individual basis, they did not manage to pick up an LPL trophy or even a spot at Worlds this year.

iG was knocked out in the semifinals of the 2020 LPL Spring Split playoffs, followed up by a disappointing sixth place in the summer split. iG had the chance of qualifying for the 2020 World Championship through the Regional Finals but fell short against LGD Gaming in the deciding match.

iG will look to pick up the pace for the 2021 season but it’s still not confirmed what the lineup will be exactly.
