Ibai sets new Twitch record for the third consecutive year

Ibai Llanos Garatea’s La Velada Del Ano 4 has shattered all previous Twitch viewership records in a power-packed stream featuring European streamers and a cameo by Will Smith.

Ibai has been hosting an annual boxing competition called “The Night of the Year” in English since 2021. Every year, the streamer manages to set a new viewership record, making it almost like a tradition. His event La Velada last year helped him beat his own record of 3.3 million viewers in 2022, and this year seems to be following the same trend.

Like every year, La Velada 4 featured top Spanish streamers with attendance from popular artists like Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Bizarrap, Anuel, and more.

What was the peak viewership at La Velada 4?

Ibai La Velada

La Velada 4 went live on July 13 with a schedule of a total of six boxing matches, out of which one was a rumble-style game featuring 10 streamers. The initial 2V2 games, however, garnered a record 3.7 million peak viewers on Twitch.

This is the highest number of viewers any Twitch stream has seen since its launch in 2011. The new record puts Ibai on top of the most watched Twitch streams stat list, followed by his own La Velada streams in 2023 and then 2022 on number two and three, respectively.

This is a huge milestone for the Spanish streamer, who has received a congratulatory message from Twitch’s official account as well. Fans on social media are in awe of his achievement, as he managed to maintain 3 million viewers for most part of the stream, which is still more than the third most watched stream on Twitch of all time.

This, paired with the fact that he sold out Santiago Bernabéu, a 80,000 seater stadium, proves that Ibai is in a league of his own as an entertainer, organiser, and a streamer.
