new expansion, The War Within, introduced the eleventh race that you can choose from: The Earthen. Hailing from the stony depths of Khaz Algar, these beings maintain their original stone forms. Since they are not affected by the Curse of Flesh, this makes them a very unique and strategic race.
In the earlier expansions, unlocking Allied Races was a time-consuming process. However, it is much more simpler this time. The steps to unlock the Earthen are as follows:
Complete The War Within Campaign
The first you need to do is complete The War Within leveling campaign. This campaign is spread across several new zones, each filled with quests that you must complete to progress. The primary areas you’ll focus on are:
Isle of Dorn
The Ringing Deeps
Hallowfall
Az-Kahet
Make sure to finish every single campaign quest in these regions. The final quest that takes you back to Dornogal will trigger a pop-up, confirming that you’ve completed the campaign. Subsequently, this message will also notify you that the Earthen Allied Race is ready to be unlocked.
Reach Renown 4 with Factions
Secondly, you’ll need to work on reaching Renown 4 with several factions. The specific factions are as follows:
Council of Dornogal
The Assembly of the Deeps
Hallowfall Arathi
The Severed Threads
Reaching Renown 4 with each of these factions unlocks additional questlines that are essential for unlocking the Earthen.
Unlock the Earthen Allied Race Achievement
Third, you’ll need to dive into several side quest chains that provide more background on the Earthen culture. These quests are as follows:
Before I Depart (in Fallside Outpost)
Discarded and Broken (in the Ringing Deeps)
How Scandalous! (in Dornogal)
Each quest series offers valuable insights into the history and society of the Earthen, adding depth to their story in The War Within. Completing these quests is mandatory before the race can be fully unlocked.
Starting level of the Earthen
When you create a new Earthen character, it will start at Level 10, like all Allied Races. However, there is a brief series of introductory quests that you’ll need to complete before your character is transported to your faction’s capital city. Afterwards, you can begin leveling your new Earthen character in earnest.
Unlocking the Earthen in The War Within is a straightforward process that involves completing the main campaign, gaining renown with specific factions, and finishing key side quests. Although, it may take some time, but the reward is worth it. Fortunately, this gives players who are interested in a rich backstory and unique abilities more incentive to grind for the Earthen.
