How to play Jhin like the LoL pros at Worlds 2021

Jhin, the Virtuoso, is one of League of Legends’ most unique marksman champions, and with his recent dominance at Worlds 2021 many want to know how to play him.

With only four bullets, a reload mechanic, and a static attack speed, Jhin requires a precise, measured playstyle different from other AD carries. Jhin’s high damage, ability to create opportunities for his team and deal damage from afar make him incredibly valuable in solo queue and professional play.

With the champion enjoying a second life, it’s worth going over how to play Jhin in League of Legends.

For runes, nearly everybody is going Fleet Footwork as their keystone, with the Inspiration tree secondary. Fleet footwork allows Jhin to quickly skirt in and out of range of his opponents to hit them with fourth shots and grenades, while also allowing him some much-needed health sustain in lane.

Inspiration has lots to offer for Jhin, but the most common runes that pros are opting for are Biscuit Delivery, Magical Footwear, Cosmic Insight, and Time Warp Tonic. Biscuit Delivery and Timewarp Tonic offer increased sustain, shoring up Jhin’s weak laning, and Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight give Jhin slightly more opportunities to be in a position to catch enemies with his root.

How to play Jhin: what items to build

For items, Jhin players are focusing on mobility, range, and consistent damage. The obvious choice for a mythic item for Jhin is Galeforce, giving the immobile AD a new dash and movement speed, as well as amping his critical strike stats. Combining this with Rapid Firecannon and Boots of Swiftness for his core items and Jhin is given much more safety in his ability to speedily get into range or out of danger.

When it comes to basic advice on how to play Jhin, only commit to a fight when it’s guaranteed that all four shots can be fired. Otherwise, stick to harassing enemies with roots and grenades.

Other items that synergize heavily with Jhin are Lord Dominik’s Regards, The Collector, and Infinity Edge. In the midgame and late game, Jhin can become an unparalleled threat if he has the space to get his damage out. Combining the right items and some basic game sense allows Jhin to really shine with any player.
