How to get Passimian and Oranguru in Pokémon GO
Passimian and Oranguru are two intriguing Pokémon introduced in Generation 7 of the Pokémon series. Both Pokémon made their debut in Pokémon GO during the Sustainability Week 2022 event. Fortunately, they have since appeared in various in-game events. If you’re eager to add these unique Pokémon to your collection, this guide is all you need to know.
Firstly, Oranguru is a dual Normal/Psychic-type Pokémon known for its serene and wise appearance. Its lofty attitude makes it a fan-favorite in terms of aesthetics and personality, while some trainers adore it for its in-game battling capabilities. On the other hand, Passimian is a pure Fighting-type Pokémon that resembles a lemur. Just like the animal, this ape-esque Pokémon is widely adored for its teamwork, and can be found in the wild.
How to get Oranguru?
The Zen-like Pokémon from the Alolan region, Oranguru, is not the easiest Pokémon to encounter in Pokémon GO due to its low spawn rate. The most effective way to find Oranguru is to search for it in the wild. You can use the radar feature on your map to detect nearby Oranguru or simply explore areas where wild spawns are more frequent.
However, the best opportunity to catch Oranguru will be during its dedicated Research Day event. This event is scheduled for Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. During this event, players can increase their chances of encountering Oranguru by completing event-themed Field Research Tasks. Previously, Oranguru was available through 7km Eggs and as a Tier 3 Raid Boss. Unfortunately, the 7km Eggs and Tier 3 Raid boss methods are no longer in rotation.

Shiny Oranguru in Pokémon GO?
Thankfully, Oranguru does come in a Shiny variant. The Shiny variant of Oranguru was first introduced during the Pokémon GO Fest in August 2023. Shiny Oranguru features a striking color change, with its normally white fur turning pink and its yellow details changing to blue. This makes it easy to spot the Shiny variant if you come across one.
How to get Passimian?
Passimian, the Fighting-type Pokémon, is also a rare find in Pokémon GO. Like Oranguru, Passimian is primarily available in the wild, but its spawn rate is quite low, making it a challenging Pokémon to encounter.
To increase your chances of finding Passimian, you should participate in the upcoming Research Day event. This event will also occur on September 22, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. During this event, you will have the chance to complete event-themed Field Research Tasks that can lead to encounters with Passimian. Previously, Passimian appeared as a Tier 3 Raid Boss, but it is no longer available through raids. Special encounters through tasks like ‘Trade a Pokémon: 2023 Pokémon World Championships,’ are no longer applicable.
- Passimian (Fighting) Pokémon Stats
- Combat Power(CP): 3429

Shiny Passimianin Pokémon GO?
Shiny Passimian will be making its debut during the Research Day event on September 22, 2024. The Shiny variant of Passimian features noticeable changes, such as blue fur on its shoulders and tail, with its helmet and the large berry it carries changing from lime green to deep orange. This new color scheme makes Shiny Passimian stand out significantly from its regular form.
Mark your calendar for September 22 to take full advantage of the Research Day events for both Passimian and Oranguru. With these tips, you’ll have a better chance of catching these rare Pokémon and maybe even finding their Shiny forms. Good luck trainers!
