Apex Legends developers have told players that Horizon will receive a huge nerf when Season 9 drops in May.

Respawn is already looking to make some big legend changes on March 9 with the introduction of the Chaos Theory update.

Pathfinder received a buff with the removal of Low Profile. Caustic got a concerning nerf after his ultimate, Nox Gas Grenade, had its cooldown increased from 2.5 minutes to 3.5 minutes. Its damage was also reduced from six to 12 health per tick to a flat rate of five.

Horizon was the biggest surprise in the Chaos Theory update. Apex Legends players figured she would get some major changes due to her newfound position high up on the legends tier list. But the only change players saw was her ultimate’s cooldown being increased from two minutes to three minutes.

Horizon to receive more nerfs in Season 9

Lead game designer Daniel Klein took to social media to discuss with players why Horizon didn’t receive a bigger nerf in Season 8. Some fans were wondering why Horizon didn’t receive Low Profile, which Lifeline and Wattson still had. This passive trait makes legends take 5% more damage due to having smaller hitboxes.

“We weren’t ready with the big nerf for Horizon, so we shipped what he had first,” the Respawn developer replied. “Bigger nerf coming soon, hopefully S9, but no guarantees.”

This comment revealed that developers have some big nerfs in store for Horizon, although it’s not clear exactly what the nerf would include. It’s also not yet clear how exactly Horizon would be weakened. It’s not even known it will happen within theh confines of Season 9, but players are now impatiently waiting for May 4 when Season 9 drops to see if Horizon gets these desired changes.

Is Horizon good in Apex Legends?

Horizon’s abilities, including her passive Spacewalk, make her very skilled in combat. She often has the upperhand due to her in-air control and her reduced falling impact effects. She isn’t slowed when she lands from high platforms and she turns more quickly mid-air than other legends. This might end up being the focus of her nerf, along with her Gravity Lift ability.
