Hogwarts Legacy won’t have characters from J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise, but the iconic dynasties live on.
When Hogwarts Legacy was announced in 2020, everyone had the same question: Would Harry Potter and his friends be playable characters? Warner Bros. tossed a bucket of cold water over the hopes of Potterheads by announcing that the game is set almost 100 years before the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter franchise in the 1800s — meaning it will have new faces.
However, all hope isn’t lost. Ancestors of favorite player characters will star in Hogwarts Legacy, overcoming Potterheads with sweet nostalgia.
What are all the characters in Hogwarts Legacy?
So far, Hogwarts Legacy has lifted the curtain on nine characters, some of which are NPCs. Here are all of the characters you’re confirmed to come across.
Phineas Nigellus Black
Hogwarts Legacy’s most famous character right now is Phineas Nigellus Black. Why, you may ask? His surname rings bells for dedicated Harry Potter fans who cried a river at the ceremonious death of Sirius Black, the black sheep in his bloodline. Phineas Nigellus Black is the first known man in the Black family tree, as shown in Harry Potter.
Simon Pegg will be playing the role of the impetuous headmaster in Hogwarts Legacy.
Main playable characters
Sebastian Croft and Amelia Gething will voice the two primary playable characters. Amelia Gething is known for multiple acting roles, whereas fans might know Sebastian Croft as the young Ned Stark from The Game of Thrones series.
Players can pick the appearance of their personalized characters in Hogwarts Legacy, but male and female voices will remain the same.
Professor Matilda Weasley
The Weasley family also appears in Hogwarts Legacy, except this time they seem to have more power and respect. Matilda Weasley is the deputy headmistress and second in command after Phineas Nigellus Black. She’s voiced by Lesley Nicol.
Amit Thakar is likely another NPC as a student in Ravenclaw house. It’s currently unknown what role he plays in the story, but he’ll likely be one of the close friends or enemies of the main characters in Hogwarts Legacy.
The Harry Potter book series had many teachers at the center of the storyline, and Hogwarts Legacy won’t be any different. Professor Onai is part of the teacher lineup in the game, alongside Matilda Weasley and others. Kandace Caine voices Professor Onai in Hogwarts Legacy.
Professor Satyavati Shah
Professor Satyavati Shah will be teaching Astronomy at Hogwarts, which was conducted by Aurora Sinistra in Harry Potter. As always, students will be required to figure out moons and stars by climbing towers and reading charts. Actress Sohm Kapila is the voice behind Satyavati Shah in Hogwarts Legacy.
Remember Lee Jordan from Harry Potter, the little kid commentating cut-throat Quidditch matches at Hogwarts? Well, he returns, but he’s much wiser and older this time. Everett Clopton is a Ravenclaw student who’s voiced by Lee Jordan.
Nearly Headless Nick
Nearly Headless Nick is the only character from Harry Potter that made the cut in Hogwarts Legacy. He’s a centuries-old ghost, after all. Haunting the hallways of Hogwarts would be Jason Anthony with his voice. But that’s not all. He’s also the voice behind the wise and cunning Sorting Hat.
