After resting for one season, Jhonwin “Hesa” Vergara, the goldlaner, has returned to Cambodia to compete for PRO Esports.
Hesa used to be a player for Nexplayer EVOS, and now plays under Filipino coach John Michael “Zico” Dizon on the PRO Esports roster while competing in the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Cambodia.
The top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang player helped PRO Esports snag their first MPL KH title in MPL Cambodia last Autumn-Split 2022, which qualified them in the M4 World Championship in Indonesia last January.
The announcement that shook the mobile esports scene
As the end of pre-season arrived, Nexplay EVOS announced the launch of their best players. The team is hoping to improve the roster for the MPL PH Season 10. In a Facebook post last July 5, they said that Hesa will no longer be a part of their line-up.
Hesa has been long-admired for his big contribution to the league because of his excellent skills and clutch gameplays. Everyone is impressed by his consistent way of playing, and he always stands out in every match he’s in.
Since the departure of Hesa, only five members were left from the first line-up of players. At the time, the community was saddened to see Hesa leave the roster and knew he’d be hard to replace. But more importantly, where would he go?
Hesa gets a new Mobile Legends squad
Hesa has joined a squad that is currently in the 4th position of their debut season in the MPL Cambodia Spring 2023 that just ended, PRO Esports.
The return of Hesa was initially predicted to not happen until the MPL Cambodia Autumn 2023 which is in the last month of the year, but it happened earlier. The team wants to fortify the roster by getting Hesa.
Zico and Hesa go their separate ways
What makes Hesa’s addition to PRO Esports even more exciting is the fact that his former coach John “Zico” Dizon is coming with him.
Now that Zico and Hesa are in Pro Esports, there is a possibility that the Filipino stars will make the Cambodian esports scene a lot more exciting and competitive.
