Reaching the Grand Lift of Rold is a necessary step to beating Elden Ring, but there’s no obvious way to get there. Thankfully, it’s actually quite easy to do once you know how.

For players looking to sprint their way through Elden Ring, the Grand Lift of Rold effectively marks the halfway point towards the end of the game. Though Elden Ring has dozens of bosses to fight, players can actually beat the game in very short order. After collecting just two Great Runes, players can enter Leyndell, the Royal Capital.

Beyond Leyndell are the Mountaintops of the Giants and the Consecrated Snowfield. The former is accessed via the Grand Lift of Rold, while the latter is a wholly optional area that serves as the gateway for Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

Though it’s not obvious how to reach the lift, it’s not particularly difficult either. Here’s how to get up the lift and head to the final areas of Elden Ring.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Elden Ring players can get to the Grand Lift of Rold after beating Morgott, the Omen King

The Grand Lift of Rold is accessed after defeating Morgott, the Omen King, and heading to the elevator near the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace.

After defeating Morgott, Elden Ring players can get to the Grand Lift of Rold after a short sprint down Leyndell’s main road. Head up the stairs from the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace and turn left. Players can then follow the path to a destroyed area of the capital full of demi-human enemies and a Misbegotten Knight. Near the end of this path is an elevator that is activated using a lever. This elevator does not activate until after defeating Morgott.

This elevator will lift the player high above Leyndell and leads to a long bridge through the Forbidden Lands. Just follow the path straight through to get to the Grand Lift of Rold.

The player can interact with the lift in one of two ways. The first is to use Melina’s Rold Medallion to reach the Mountaintops of the Giants. The second is to get the two halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion and use it to head to the Consecrated Snowfield.

How to get the left and right halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion

The player can get the left half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion by defeating Commander Niall in Castle Sol, while the right half comes from the Village of the Albinaurics from an NPC disguised as a pot.

The right half can be obtained shortly after reaching Liurnia of the Lakes. In the southwestern corner of the area in a series of caves is the Village of the Albinaurics. Head uphill from the Site of Grace and hug along the wall. A single large pot can be found between some coffins. Attack it once to uncover an NPC who hands over the medallion.

The left half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion is found much later in the game. The northern reaches of the Mountaintops of the Giants has an area called Castle Sol. The boss of this area is Commander Niall, who guards a pathway that leads to the castle’s rooftop. After reaching the rooftop, the other half of the medallion is found on the ground.

After they get both halves, players can head to the Grand Lift of Rold and will be offered the chance to use the Haligtree Secret Medallion. This will drop them off on the path towards the Consecrated Snowfield.
