Impactful changes to legends and ranked play are coming in Apex Legends Season 22.
The latest update to Apex Legends dubbed the “Shockwave” patch, brings with it a significant overhaul to the game’s ranked play system. The new season reset rules aim to provide a more balanced and competitive experience for players of all skill levels.
Previously, Ranked underwent a complete reset at the start of each season and a mid-season split. This meant your Ranked Points (RP) would plummet back to 1, regardless of your previous performance. This system placed everyone back in the starting blocks, potentially leading to frustration, especially for high-ranked players who had to grind their way back up.
Here’s how the Apex Legends rank rest work after the new update.
The new season reset rules introduce more nuanced adjustments to better match players with their skill levels from the previous season. This huge change will make ranking up easier for players of previously high-ranked players, and low-ranked players will be left with an easier lobby than before. Here’s a breakdown of the new reset rules:
There are, however, some exceptions where different rules apply.
The goal of these new reset rules is to place players in tiers that reflect their previous season’s performance more accurately. This ensures that players start the new season from a rank that better suits their skill level, promoting fairer and more competitive matches.
High-ranked players retain a portion of their achievements, enabling them to compete against similarly skilled opponents right from the beginning of the new season.
