Yujiro Hanma is tall, strong, fast, and arguably one of the greatest villains in all of anime and manga.
The big bad of the Baki franchise is the titular character’s father and creator Keisuke Itagaki has gone through great effort to protect his deadly aura. With Yujiro’s enormous power and the stop-start history of Baki in regions outside Japan, this has made Yujiro’s tale of the tape and vitals a bit unclear.
It’s worth going over some of the key stats surrounding the character. Here’s how tall, strong, and successful in combat Yujiro Hanma really is.
Light spoilers ahead for the Baki Hanma animated series.
Yujiro Hanma is stated to be 190 centimeters tall, or approximately 6’3”.Â
Though Yujiro has performed ridiculous feats of strength, his height and weight aren’t especially outlandish. The World’s Strongest Creature checks in at about 6’3” and 265 pounds. Yujiro’s a very large man, but this isn’t out of line with someone in the realm of heavyweight MMA or American football.
Yujiro Hanma is shown on multiple occasions to possess superhuman strength.
The presentation of his strength varies wildly from moment to moment. In the original Baki the Grappler series, it’s implied that he can stop an earthquake by punching the ground. Later scenes show that he can make an entire skyscraper shake just by getting angry.
Yujiro has still pulled off many amazing feats of strength while demonstrating peerless fighting prowess. Yujiro’s origin story shows him as a teenager defeating entire military detachments barehanded. He is also shown on multiple occasions beating large wild animals.Â
He’s also shown to be very quick. Yujiro is capable of catching an arrow shot from a bow at close range and can jump out a window chasing someone while still somehow landing on the ground before them.
To date, Yujiro Hanma has seemingly never lost a fight and has beaten much of the cast with little difficulty.
There are large portions of Yujiro’s backstory that haven’t been shown and have been left to the imaginations of readers, so it is possible he may have lost at some point in the past. The most notable example of this is with Yuichiro Hanma, Yujiro’s father and Baki’s grandfather. There are no details about their relationship beyond the fact that they knew each other, but it’s highly probable the two faced off at some point.
How that may have gone is unknown. It’s suggested that Yuichiro’s strength was immense, but it’s unknown if he was a match for Yujiro.
Until it’s shown otherwise, fans can assume that Yujiro is undefeated. At least in fights that don’t involve nets.
