Naruto's Team 7 in Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow

There have been a lot of Naruto movies over the years and it might not be easy to figure out the right order to watch them in on your favorite streaming service.

Naruto movies aren’t must-watch material for those just looking to get through the series, since most of them are either semi-canonical or non-canonical. The good news is that the movies are generally fun and can serve as a great compliment to the main source material. Most of these movies focus on one-off villains of immense power, but some of which tie into the main story in interesting ways.

With 11 movies that cover all three main Naruto anime series, it’s tough to keep track of which movies came out when. Here’s the full list of Naruto movies and how to watch them in order.

How to watch the Naruto movies in order

There are 11 Naruto movies, with three of them taking place during the original series, seven as part of Shippuden, and one for Boruto. Some movies don’t fit into a defined point in the main canon and have original characters that never appear otherwise. Others are worth watching in order due to their reliance on characters and events from the main series.

Naruto: NInja Clash in the Land of Snow (2004)

Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, and Kakashi are sent to the Land of Snow to serve as bodyguards for a production company looking to film a movie. This unwittingly puts Team 7 in the middle of a war of succession within the Land of Snow.

Naruto: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom (2006)

Naruto, Sakura, Rock Lee, and Kakashi take on a mission to guard Land of the Moon royalty. Tension builds between the ninjas and their fabulously wealthy clients. After escorting the royal family back to the Land of the Moon, the team has to help deal with a coup d’etat.

Naruto Shippuden the Movie (2007)

Naruto and Sakura are once again on bodyguard duty, this time alongside Lee and Neji. The crew needs to protect Shion, a priestess on a mission to visit an altar where a demon is sealed. Things get tense when Shion prophesizes the death of Naruto.

Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire (2009)

The disappearances of several ninjas with Kekkei Genkai leads other villages to become suspicious of the Konoha. When forces start to amass on the borders of the Land of Fire, Kakashi winds up at the center of the conflict. Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower (2010)

The new Team 7 is sent on a mission to take down a rogue ninja, but things take a strange turn. Naruto and Yamato are sent 20 years into the past. This allows Naruto to meet his father, the fourth Hokage, for the first time.

Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison (2011)

Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie (2012)

Naruto and Sakura go through an emotional whirlwind when the parents of their former classmen recommend them for promotion to Jonin. Tobi attacks the pair and transports them to an alternate reality. Their journey back shines a light on the nature of family in the world of Naruto.

The Last: Naruto the Movie (2014)

A member of the Otsutsuki clan, who is also a nephew of the Sage of Six Paths, kidnaps Hinata’s sister as part of a plan to crash the moon into the planet. This forces Naruto and Hinata to confront their feelings for one another, with plot points that dovetail into the opening portion of Boruto.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie (2015)

The movie follows the first arc of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. The movie lays the groundwork for the series including details on what has happened in the time since Naruto Shippuden, and introducing the many children of the main series’ cast. When Naruto finds himself in danger, Boruto teams up with Sasuke to help rescue his father.

What is the best Naruto movie?

Boruto: Naruto the Movie has the best critical scores of any Naruto movie across multiple review aggregators. And unlike other Naruto movies, Boruto: Naruto the Movie is actually canonical. It follows the first major arc of the Boruto manga series and carries intrigue for established fans and newcomers alike.

The Last: Naruto The Movie also has high critical scores and serves as a strong bridge from Naruto to Boruto. It more fully explores the relationship between Naruto and Hinata, and lays the groundwork for the early villains of Boruto.
