God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring will go head-to-head in The Game Awards in multiple categories, including Game of the Year.
The 2022 Game Awards will take place on December 8 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony celebrates the best games and esports personalities of 2022.
The Game Awards are divided into 31 categories, including the most prestigious, Game of the Year. A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are the other games competing against God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring in the Game of the Year category.
It is not surprising that God of War Ragnarok is getting recognition after only a week of its release. The fifth installment in the franchise is considered by many an almost perfect continuation of the reboot’s debut. The PlayStation 5 version of the game currently boasts a 94 on Metacritic, signaling widespread acclaim.
God of War Ragnarok is also nominated for the following additional categories.
While the favorite to take the award, God of War Ragnarok has a worthy opponent in the form of Elden Ring. The RPG developed by FromSoftware Inc. has many accolades of its own. Elden Ring has sold over 17.5 million copies since its release in February 2022.
Elden Ring is nominated to win these awards in addition to Game of the Year.
Horizon Forbidden West and Stray are, alongside God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring, some of the games with the most nominations.
The Game Awards 2022 will be streamed on 40 different platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok Live. All streams are free to watch.
Before the event kicks off on December 8, future audience members can make their voices heard and vote online for their favorite games.
