Marvel Thunderbolts’ roster takes another blow as Ayo Edebiri exits the film due to scheduling issues.

Thunderbolts, poised to be Marvel’s next blockbuster, commence filming in Spring 2024; however, significant cast members are stepping away from their roles. Previously, the Walking Dead star Steven Yeun walked away from the film, citing a packed schedule. Now, Ayo Edebiri has left the project for the same reason.

According to Deadline, Edebiri will be replaced by Geraldine Viswanathan. Edebiri’s departure is reportedly linked to the SAG-AFTRA strike last year, which delayed the movie production to 2024 from its initially scheduled date in 2023. Had the shooting begun on time, Thunderbolts may still have the same star-studded cast.

However, fans are happy with Edebiri’s replacement. Viswanathan rose to fame with Blockers in 2018. Since then, she has appeared in movies like Bad Education (2019), The Broken Hearts Gallery’ (2020), and more.

Geraldine Viswanathan and Lewis Pullman join Thunderbolts cast

Geraldine Viswanathan will replace Edebiri in a mystery role, reportedly Songbird, a superhero with sound manipulation powers. Pullman is expected to play Sentry. However, Marvel has not officially confirmed this, maintaining a tight-lipped stance on the matter.

Viswanathan and Pullman will join the glittering cast lineup of Thunderbolts announced in the 2023 event last year, includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.

Marvel continues to keep details about the movie’s plot under wraps, though hints from the comics suggest a storyline centered around criminals versus bad guys. The superheroes are set to undertake a government-backed mission to confront the looming threat.
