New leaks for Genshin Impact have disappointed fans eagerly awaiting the rerun of Shenhe, one of the game’s most popular Cryo characters. According to the leaks, Shenhe will not be featured in the upcoming Version 5.2. This further extends her absence from the limited gacha banner for over a year, as she was last available in Version 3.5, where she ran alongside Ayaka. This news has left fans wondering when the powerful Cryo support will return. Especially, as she has become an integral part of many Cryo-centric team compositions.
Shenhe, introduced in Version 2.4, quickly gained popularity for her unique role in boosting Cryo damage. She enhances Cryo DPS characters like Ganyu and Ayaka by increasing their Cryo DMG and reducing enemy Cryo resistance. Her utility made her a fan favorite, especially for players who focus on Cryo team compositions. However, despite her popularity, Shenhe hasn’t had a rerun in over a year.
Shenhe’s last banner rerun occurred in Version 3.5 in March, 2023. As is, the rerun was part of the Sumeru cycle. Since then, Genshin Impact has moved through multiple major updates, including the Fontaine cycle, without featuring her. Her extended absence has been frustrating for fans. This is especially concerning as she holds the title of the longest-running five-star character to not receive a rerun.
Recent leaks, notably from Genshin Impact leaker hxg_diluc and supported by fellow leaker DK2, confirm that Shenhe won’t have a rerun in Version 5.2. The update, expected to launch in November, will move forward without bringing her back to the gacha banner. This update is further disappointing for fans hoping for her return.
However, there is a glimmer of hope for Cryo fans. Citlali, a rumored new Cryo character, is expected to debut in Version 5.3. She will reportedly be the first new Cryo character since Version 4.2. Fortunately, this breaks a long drought of new additions to the Cryo roster. Citlali is expected to arrive alongside Pyro Archon Mavuika, marking a significant update that could satisfy players’ anticipation for new Cryo content.
Though Shenhe fans will have to wait longer for a rerun, the arrival of new Cryo characters like Citlali might bring fresh excitement to Genshin Impact’s Cryo team compositions.
