As much as gaming studios try to keep certain details of past and future projects under wraps, sometimes leaks happen. When they do, fans get an early taste of what is to come or even unknown facts about projects already launched.

Such is the case with a recent leak from Game Freak, the developers of the Pokemon Games. About a terabyte worth of data from the company made its way to the internet and we’ve compiled some of the biggest discoveries.

What is the Gen 10 Pokemon Game?

According to the Game Freak leak, the upcoming game has the codename ‘Ounce’ but will officially be called ‘Gaia’. Another title that is in development is a multiplayer game identified as ‘Synapse’. As per the leak, it is being created as a collaboration with ILCA and will be a multiplayer game.

What’s more, players will be able to bring in older Pokemon into its universe. Pokemon that existed in the original Gen 1 games can be imported into the game. Ounce is also being tested on the Switch 1, though it might not necessarily be compatible with it in its final form. The leak might have given us a sneak peek of what is to come but has also opened up questions and expectations from fans. The prospect of importing older Pokemon into current games is very appealing but the uncertainty about Switch compatibility is making some fans worried.

Besides the upcoming projects fans get to be excited about, some new information was given about previous releases. More specifically, the source codes for Black and White 2, Heart of Gold, and Soul Silver were also leaked. While they have, obviously, already hit the market, some fans were excited to see the beta builds.

Game Freak has been a dominant force in the gaming sector for years, owing in no small part to its development of the Pokemon games. These leaks show that even with the market secured, fans of the franchise will continue to have new Pokemon releases to look forward to.
