G2 Esports dominates Rogue, takes 1st ahead of LEC playoffs
G2 Esports is in pole position of the 2021 LEC Spring Split after taking down Rogue in week 7.
After being neck-and-neck for weeks at the top of the LEC standings, G2 and Rogue have finally separated themselves from each other. Moving into the final weeks of the regular split, this match was crucial for both teams to secure the first seed going into playoffs. Unfortunately for Rogue, G2 Esports showed up big and once again asserted themselves as the kings of Europe.
Right from the drafting phase, the two teams went in completely different directions. G2 Esports looked to establish early-game dominance with Nidalee in the jungle and Lucian mid. Rogue did the opposite and prioritized scaling with Azir and Lillia. For Rogue mid laner Emil “Larssen” Larsson, Azir was a comfort pick that he has played four times this split already, going 3-1.
With an early-game composition, it was crucial for G2 to get ahead in the early game. The star-packed team knew that and went on terror during the first minutes of the laning phase. After the first 12 minutes, G2 Esports had five kills to Rogue’s one which was more than enough to start rolling the snowball.
Even though Rogue had great scaling, it was hard for them to find the right moment to narrow the gap. This kept G2 Esports rolling with aggressive plays from mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther on Lucian. Rogue still tried to find the right team fight where they could combo with Azir, Gnar, and Lillia, but it never ended up happening.
As soon as G2 got the first Baron buff, the team was quick to push down the base of Rogue. After just 28 minutes the game was over, G2 extended its winning streak to seven games, and had the uncontested first-place spot in the LEC Spring Split.
G2 will play its next game against Misfits Gaming and look to continue the hot streak.
What is the G2 Esports 2021 LEC team?
The star-studded roster of G2 Esports is on its way to another LEC trophy with the following roster:

- Top – Martin “Wunder” Hansen
- Jungle Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski
- Mid – Rasmus “Caps” Winther

Is G2 Esports qualified for the 2021 LEC playoffs?
With just three games left of the regular split for G2 Esports, the team is locked in for a spot in the playoffs. With a 12-2 record it seems that G2 will secure a high seed, but they will have to keep fighting to hold on to the first seed.
