frogan unbanned on Twitch, why fans are mad
Controversial streamer Morgan “frogan” is unbanned on Twitch after a month break, but detractors are claiming the temporary ban wasn’t nearly enough.
In October 2024, Twitch streamer frogan was banned by Twitch after she made negative comments regarding American veterans of the war in Afghanistan. However, Twitch explained that the actual reason for the ban was a convention tier list panel hosted months prior that featured the phrase Loves Sabra, an alleged euphemism for both the hummus brand and native-born Israelis. In the meantime, Twitch has become embroiled in antisemitism accusation, and the unban timing has further fanned the flames.
Here’s the real reason why frogan was banned and why getting unbanned ties into Twitch’s antisemitism claims.
frogan unbanned during antisemitism claims against Twitch
frogan being unbanned has brought renewed interest in Twitch’s alleged antisemitism.
The platform originally suspended frogan on October 21, 2024, a day after the comments about American veterans. This led fans to believe the two incidents were connected. However, frogan claims the ban was actually due to a convention panel in September of that year with the Ayyrabs podcast. The panelists ranked various personalities based on how Arabic they perceived them. The bottom tier was titled Loves Sabra. Sabra both referred to the brand of hummus and a Hebrew word meaning a Jewish person born in Israel. Ethan Klein, host of the H3 Podcast, was the first person put into that tier. Félix “xQc” Lengyel somehow ended up in the Arab Coded tier.
A day before the end of her ban, frogan posted on social media clarifying that she would immediately return to streaming. The social media post was immediately met with a negative reaction, with fans claiming she was the reason for the adpocalypse phenomenon and insulting her for her weight.
Ethan Klein, who was put at the bottom of the tier list, has been an outspoken accuser of Twitch. He said the company was supporting antisemitic rhetoric on his personal YouTube channel. He used the frogan situation as an example of such policies. With frogan once again unbanned, Klein and other content creators could press the issue harder in the future.
