Friday Fortnite sees Ninja and Bugha team up, take out Ewok
Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf teamed up in the latest edition of Friday Fortnite.
The popular streamer and gaming celebrity remains a big name in the Fortnite scene and was able to draw in his latest high-profile partner for the event. Unlike previous teammates that were picked on name value, Bugha proved his bona fides by winning the Fortnite World Cup solo championship.
In their first match, the duo came up against Logan “BuckeFPS” Eschenburg and Soleil “Ewok” Wheeler. Ewok recently made history as the first female pro player to be signed in Fortnite, joining FaZe Clan during the Fortnite World Cup.
Ninja and Bugha came out on top, sending Ewok and BuckeFPS to the lower bracket. Both enjoyed long runs at the event, but neither was able to take the top prize.
Ninja and Bugha made it all the way to the upper bracket semifinals before being beaten by Trevor “Funk” Siegler and Nate Hill. That sent them to the lower bracket where they were eliminated by Team SoloMid’s Ali “Myth” Kabbani and Anthony “ZexRow” Colandro. Ewok and BuckeFPS progressed through the lower bracket, but fell to young duo H1ghsky1 and Slappie.
The event was ultimately won by Nate Hill and Funk.
Fans of Ewok reached out to her on Twitter, asking how the two were able to communicate so effectively when Ewok is deaf and BuckeFPS doesn’t understand ASL. The pro-player was happy to answer on her account, sharing that they took part in a four way group chat on Discord. As Bucke spoke, an assistant typed what he had to say for her while somebody else voiced Ewok’s messages.
In addition to the event featuring a strong lineup of competitors, it was also the site of Ninja’s debut on Mixer. Ninja made big waves earlier this week by leaving Twitch to start exclusively streaming on Microsoft’s competitor to the platform.
