After Apple and Epic battling it out in the court, Fortnite and Epic Games Store finally return to iOS in the EU, following a new European law. Here’s how to download the application.
Fortnite was banned from Apple’s App Store for five years, following a year of legal battle between Epic Games and Apple. After a lot of back and forth between Epic and Apple, Apple punished Epic by banning their developer account on Apple’s App Store, and thus, Fortnite was banned on iOS in all regions.
However, that is in the past. The EU launched a new law called the Digital Market Act(DMA), resulting in Epic Games and Fortnite finally being available for iPhone users in most EU countries and on Android devices worldwide.
While it is much easier to install Fortnite on Android devices because it is available in all regions of the world, iOS is quite restricted, as you are only able to install it if you’re inside the EU(excluding the UK.)
Fortunately, if you are inside the EU, the process is quite painless and very similar to that of an Android device. You just need to go through a process of location verification while following the steps:
Due to the DMA law passed in the EU, Apple was forced to allow Epic Games Store to be available on iPhone, but only in EU. The UK passed a similar law earlier this year, which in turn means that Fortnite might come to iPhone in the UK by the third quarter of 2025. Since there aren’t any anticompetitive and digital laws existing in the US, the fight between Apple and Epic is still taking place. As of this article, we can confidently say that there is no prediction on when iPhone users can experience Fortnite in the US.
Hopefully, the US and UK might follow suit soon and iPhone users all around the world might be able to enjoy Epic Games’ Library in the future.
