Fortnite’s 31.40 update is scheduled to launch today, bringing a plethora of new content to the game. This update is especially significant as it marks the arrival of the highly anticipated Fortnitemares Halloween event. Epic Games has been teasing various horror-themed collaborations leading up to this release, further building excitement among players. In addition to the Halloween festivities, several other tweaks and additions across different game modes will be implemented.

Update 31.40 downtime – Fortnitemares details

The downtime for Fortnite’s 31.40 update will begin at 4 AM ET on October 11, 2024, as confirmed by Epic via a post on social media. Players should prepare for matchmaking to cease shortly before this time.

This year’s Fortnitemares will feature collaborations with iconic horror franchises, including Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw. The map will undergo a spooky transformation to match the season’s theme, and new Fortnitemares quests are expected to be added in the 31.40 update.

According to leaker HYPEX, six new landmarks will be added, alongside updates to existing Points of Interest (POIs). The POIs in this update are as follows:

Additionally, in the 31.40 update players can expect the return of certain weapons and items, enhancing the Halloween theme. These are as follows:

A new Mythic weapon, related to the Saw collaboration, is also anticipated, although details remain scarce.

Horde Rush LTM – LEGO Fortnite – Rocket Racing

In the 31.40 update, the Horde Rush Limited Time Mode (LTM) is set to return. The LTM will be challenging players to fend off waves of monsters while the storm shrinks. This classic mode is beloved by veteran players and will add a nostalgic element to the update.

Fortnite’s LEGO mode will receive a new “Brick or Treat Event Pass,” featuring various builds. These builds are as follows:
